Diary Peschiera

How the project is born

PNRR at the service of rural heritagepatrimony

  • The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) continues to invest in the protection and enhancement of Italy's historical and landscape heritage. A concrete example of this commitment is the Peschiera Federico II, located in Puglia, in the municipality of Minervino di Lecce. The redevelopment project focuses on rural architecture and includes the conservative recovery of the historic "Peschiera di Federico II", as part of the "Protection and enhancement of rural architecture and landscape" measure, which is part of the broader theme of "Territorial protection". The intervention aims to preserve and enhance a complex of buildings that represent an identifying and historical element of great importance for the local rural landscape. This conservative recovery work will not only ensure the protection of a valuable asset but also constitute a significant step in the targeted use of European funds for resilience and the enhancement of minor territorial identities. Thanks to this project, the historical legacy of Puglia's rural architecture can be safeguarded and passed on to future generations.

Structural Works and Conservation

This section concerns the heart of the conservative recovery of rural architecture:

  • Structural Restoration: Intervention on existing Walls and Routes to guarantee their stability and long-term conservation.
  • New Routes: Creation of new routes within the site, designed to guide visitors safely and with respect for the historical environment.

Services for Enjoyment and Enhancement

The implemented services have been designed to facilitate access, enrich the visiting experience and promote the heritage and beauties of the territory.

The most significant interventions have focused on:

  • Accessibility and Inclusivity:Improved physical accessibility: Creation of completely accessible and barrier-free routes for people with motor disabilities.
  • Information and Orientation: Installation of information panels and dedicated audio guide systems for autonomous and in-depth use of the site.
  • Technology and Digital Immersion: Development of virtual tours and innovative multimedia content with augmented reality, to offer the visitor a dynamic and engaging perspective on the history of Peschiera.
  • Utility and Booking: Introduction of the online Ticketing service, which speeds up access and simplifies the planning of the visit.

Reliefs and aerial shots

Aerial shots with drone offer a unique and complete perspective on the work and the transformation of the site.

Interactive panels

Equipped with QR Code and NFC tags, the panels guarantee immediate and interactive access to digital content directly via smartphone.

Tactile paths

The tactile path was made with fine stones from Lecce, combining accessibility with local aesthetics. This allows visitors with visual impairments to explore the site in autonomy and complete safety.

Info Point

It has been set up a gazebo dedicated to multimedia projections with informative contents. This structure offers visitors an immersive space to deepen the history of the site.

Tactile Map

In the panels we find a Tactile Map of the site with captions in Braille writing for total accessibility. This offers blind visitors all the necessary information for orientation and understanding of the route.
